For Immediate Release Jeremiah Clancy Adventures In Appreciation A Photography and Video Exhibition April 8th - May 13th, 2006 Reception: Saturday, April 8th, 6-9 PM

BasFisher Invitational is pleased to announce: “Adventures In Appreciation” – a solo exhibition featuring an artist who delves into the representation of the complex union between the viewer and the viewed.  In both the video work as well as the photographs, he is turning the stage around, and for a moment these individuals in the audience become the performers.  

He is capturing the moments when the line between individual and group become blurred.  Watching a performance is a highly private and uniquely personal experience.  This is represented in some of the images; the others capture a moment when these individuals become one, as a crowd.

Jeremiah also explores the architecture of a “performance” space when the audience is removed. By slowly adding the crowd, the architecture is forgotten, and the magic of a live show takes over. It is a celebration of what makes live performance possible- the individuals watching it.

He was an integral part of the performance-art/band FISCHERSPOONER, which was a highly successful project about entertainment and spectacle.  Jeremiah’s time with this project was when much of this work was created.  Fischerspooner was an elaborate combination of elements associated with pop entertainment. Music, performance, dance, fashion, film, design, photography and the Internet were all tools used to fabricate its illusion of glamour and popularity.
