Miami, FL - The Bas Fisher Invitational is proud to present the first solo show of New York based painter Justin Dean Worsdale, entitled "Happy Valentines Day." Worsdale's illustrative paintings are a youthful yet critically irreverent depiction of his generation and social demographic.
Artist statement:
I work within an idealized vision of the affluent 18
to 25 demographic which much of western society
emulates and markets itself to. I dabble with
juxtaposed advertising, noticeably re-occurring
tidbits of conversation/pop songs, fashion and
“anti-fashion” trends, and the things these people
choose to hold and surround themselves with. My major
influences typically revolve around fashion
photography and illustrative art. I try to work
organically. Instead of forcing myself to focus on one
thing, I like to float till something clicks. The
“throw away” or “accidental” compositions of polaroids
and webcams are a re-occurring muse to me. The work is
a tongue in cheek critique of the hyper fantasized and
stylized worlds of mall and pop culture in the 2000’s.
Justin Dean Worsdale is an alumni of Miami's New World School of the Arts outstanding high school program, and recipient of a Bachelors of Fine Art from Baltimore's Maryland Institute, College of Art.
