Miami, FL - She Sank on Shallow Bank is a collaborative project between Artist and Filmmaker Clifton Childree and Dancer and Performance Artist Nikki Rollason.  Using stop-motion animation, sculptural sets and dance, the film creates a disjointed narrative of the dreamlike psyche of a girl who has washed upon the bank of a bay, there her body interacts with the flotsam on the beach. The girl and all of the objects become like a company of dancers synchronizing as well as instigating and reacting to each other.

Original music score by Daniel Hosker and sound effects by Childree create a beautiful and haunting atmosphere, completing a short film that harkens back to early surrealistic filmmaking and continues to push the envelope of contemporary film and installation art, as well as redefining ways to present dance.

Born in Birmingham Alabama, Miami resident Clifton Childree is a self-taught artist and one of the most exciting young truly independent filmmakers.  His epic film "The Flew" was made over a six-year period and won numerous awards in 2003 including the Grand Jury- Best Feature at Microcinefest in Baltimore, Maryland; Grand Jury- Best Narrative Feature at the Downstream Film Festival in Decatur, Georgia; Best Sound Design and Vision Emerging Artist Award at the Domani Visionfest in New York, New York.  Cashiers du Cinemart Magazine named "The Flew" as one of the top 50 Midnight Movies made in the last 10 years.  Most recently in 2004 Childree received the South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship and presented an installation version of "the Flew" at the Miami Art Museum.

Born in Miami, Nikki Rollason received her BFA in Dance from the New World School of the Arts in 1997.  In 2003 she received the Dance Miami Fellowship and had her work presented in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival.  In 2002 in collaboration with Kristin O'Neal she presented "Nutz-n-Boltz in Fancy Pants" at the Miami Light Project Here and Now Festival.

Dan Hosker is a South Florida based musician who has been in many seminal bands including the Holy Terrors, Harry Pussy and Doersam.  In addition to being a punk and noise pioneer, Hosker secretly creates classically inspired compositions.

She Sank on Shallow Bank was created with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, the Cultural Affairs Council, the Mayor and the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners.
