Miami, FL - Alejandro Cardenas is a New York based artist who was raised in Miami. For his first solo show at the Bas Fisher Invitational he will present a new set of drawings from his ongoing series "Viviana Died." The detailed and elegant ink drawings depict scenes from the afterlife of a librarian named Viviana. Pulling from the vastness of death's symbology, Alejandro creates a narrative wherein all of man's ideas and fantasies about what follows life, exist simultaneously. Through these works Alejandro aims to romanticize man's inability to live with unanswerable questions, unanswered. In 2005 his drawings have been featured in group shows at the Daniel Reich Gallery, Guild and Greyskul, and the Spencer Brownstone Gallery in New York. |
